- Reviewed in the United States on November 3, 2020I have to say I am a beginner and this is my first drone so still learning but enjoying it. Deerc customer service was outstanding for this reason. I got my drone and had an issue where I lost communication with it and I lost it in corn fields on the first day. Not sure what caused the issue but they sent me a brand new drone within a matter of days after I called and explained what happened. Got my new replacement drone and this time I made sure I did my homework before I took it in the air. I have used this drone and absolutely love it. It is easy to use but I encourage everyone to really read the instructions that come with it. I have had no issues at all now and it is so much fun. Word of advice start off with simple low flights to get the feel for how it flies and then progress to higher heights. For flying it is easy to determine the front from the back with a white led light in the front and a green flashing light in the back. The remote is easy to use and it beeps when the batteries are getting low and the drone flashes as well and you can push one button and it lands. Since this drone is so light it really does not like windy conditions and at times can be hard to go side to side in the wind. So I have been flying it when the winds are not too strong and it makes a huge difference. The lights are super bright and easy to see at night and the camera takes really good pictures as well. Really don't use the video but it pairs with your cell phone with the app very easily. I purchased the extra batteries which you will want so you can fly longer..the batteries last about 8-10 mins so I got 4. I highly recommend any product from this company based on the customer service I received and the quality of the drone for the price is outstanding. I love it and it is a blast to fly!!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2021This is my first drone, though I have flown others. I purchased this unit due to the price and what you get for that price, which is a lot. The case that comes with it is a great added feature that most of the units in this price range don't have. In truth, most of the sub $100 units have a lot of similar features, so anything extra is a good deciding factor. Given that this is a Holystone derivative, even better.
As to the functions and use, a couple of things to note. First, this is a TOUGH unit. I've crashed it into, onto, and through a multitude of obstacles and haven't even suffered a broken blade...yet. It has decent speed, a good lift, and fairly crisp moves. Second, the camera is respectable, but given that it's a stock model, you're not going to get incredibly sharp pictures when dialing into them. Good enough to produce personal social media clips, but not good enough for anything commercial. No big deal, in this price range, it's very respectable.
Lastly, the one big thing that I would caution anyone about when buying this unit is that it is NOT GPS laden. Being my first one, I didn't think it was that big of a deal, but even the slightest breeze will keep you engaged in its operation. If you are just doing some casual shots, it's fine, but if you are wanting any kind of tight precise camera work, this will work you to death. Additionally, you have to keep this line-of-sight as the feedback from the transmitter is too slow to correct and maintain flight once it leaves your sight.
Again, great first drone to learn on, especially at the price point, but expect to upgrade to a GPS unit in short order if you get serious about your drone work.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2020I am beyond pleased with this drone and the customer service from the company. First thing out of the box, I crashed it hard. When I went to retrieve it I expected a pile of parts but it held up except for a small gear on the inside (designed to fail to save the motor it seems) It still flew but was noisy. I took it apart (a task you will get used to with ANY drone) and called the emailed the company about purchasing replacement parts as the crash was my fault. They responded to the email within minutes and offered to send me a bag of the replacement gears for free. I got the gears and flew it regularly for a couple weeks with no problem until I was feeling a little cocky and tried seeing what it would do in a wind storm.
I was flying FPV and didn't realize that I was being blown off course so bad and went into a tree about 150' up. I watched the tree for a week of rain snow and wind, waiting for decent weather to climb the tree but in the meantime it fell to the ground and got mauled by the dog in the yard where the tree was. I didn't have much hope, but when I got it back dripping wet, with a broken prop, I popped a battery in it and flew it home. It did'nt fly very well because of the broken prop but it made it home....where I crashed it into a mud puddle (I can confirm it floats....kind of...) After retrieving it from the puddle and changing the prop (supplied it the box) I took off and have been flying it since. I really don't think you can kill this thing.
As far as flying it goes, its easy. Its stabilized so you can't do anything really crazy but it doesn't have GPS so you have to actively control it while its in the air. This is a good thing for new drone pilots because it forces you to learn to fly without quite so many aids.
I have purchased a second one because I know that it can't possibly survive the abuse I keep giving it but so far. Its like a very light weight plastic tank!
