First impressions
Ok, so it came today, and setup was as easy as any other bike out there, taking maybe 30 minutes.Extra point for no parts being missing (if you’ve dealt with unknown brands, you know this is all too common).Build quality is pretty great, which was a nice surprise, as I’ve never dealt with Sunny before, and read some horror stories in the reviews, but from my experience, it’s quite substantial, so you won’t have to worry about cheap, flimsy steel in this case.Pedals are caged, which I don’t like at all on any bike, but they can easily be switched out for something else. It’s not loaded down with a bunch of tech so there’s not a lot that can go wrong with it. Like, for example, when you’re dealing with something like a Bowflex or Pelaton or Echelon you see a lot of these large high-tech instrument panels and what not. With this bike, you have a small computer and if anything goes wrong with it I’m sure you could easily buy a new one for pretty cheap. I would hate to see the cost to replace the electronics on those other previously mentioned bikes. Is the bike quiet? It’s completely silent.Resistance is increased or decreased via a knob turn on the frame. Of course, it doesn’t show resistance level on the screen. but it doesn’t require a masters degree or anything to remember how many turns in the clockwise direction you made on any particular ride.At the front of the handlebars is a projection where you could actually set your tablet, and right below it is a little shelf where can set your phone if you want to. The handlebar post is adjustable vertically, and the seat is also adjustable both horizontally and vertically to accommodate taller riders. I’m not sure if you could switch out the seat, but it’s not uncomfortable. It’s pretty heavy- all in all, I think the box indicates 88 pounds, but it’s not a very large piece of hardware by any means. It has both a water bottle holder and a dumbbell holder on the frame, but I’m not sure who uses dumbbells while riding a bike, so that was a curious design decision. Also, we’re not talking major dumbbells here we’re talking maybe like 5 pounds at the most.I mean, if you’re looking for a bike, I can’t see why you would spend another $500 extra to get something like a Bowflex, or another thousand dollars extra to get a Peloton. Unless you’re really, really into instructor-lead classes, and paying $39/month to participate in those, you should definitely save your money and just get this bike instead. Calories are calories and a $240 exercise bike will let you burn them just the same as a $1200 exercise bike. Your body doesn’t know brand names.Alright, that’s it for now. I will check back in a week, and then again in two weeks, etc. I got the two-year warranty, just in case, because I know Sunny health and fitness has a really abysmal 90 day basic warranty out the box.UPDATE: Ok, it’s been like 3 weeks and I can report that you will definitely want a totally new seat, or gel/foam seat cover, because the stock saddle is torture after a short while. Pure torture. I mean it. The worst pain I’ve ever felt from any bike seat, at this was after only a few 30 minute sessions.Solution: seat set all the way back, seat post height below handlebars- NOT above. Some advise to lower the bars/raise the seat, but it’s just going to result in your arms burning, trying to support yourself at that angle, so you’re fighting the flywheel and your own body lol just don’t do it.I’ve been using a bath towel folded into a square, and it relieves probably 98% of the problem, so I’m gonna keep the bike. If I couldn’t figure out the seat thing (I did try a gel cover, but must’ve gotten a cheap ineffective one, because it didn’t help much), it was going back, for sure, as I had a hard time sitting for literally days after.

I really love the magnetic Synergy Pro w/ belt drive. It is a solid exercise bike that adjusts to a variety of positions that fit me, my wife, and my daughter. The original seat was not comfortable at all, especially for my wife and daughter - it was too narrow and firm for them. Still looking for the best replacement, but that won't be too difficult and is certainly not a deal-breaker. It was quite easy to put together by myself, but it would be helpful to have a second person to help with lifting the bike to attach the floor braces and feet. The handlebars do not fit flush against the bracket they're meant to rest on (the shape of the bracket does not come close to matching the shape of the handlebar base...a precision issue with manufacturing, specifications/quality control issue), but I was able to tighten the screws enough that they seem to be stable. I'll be watching this over time and hoping it doesn't become a problem. The bike has been very quiet during most rides I've taken. But I have heard a light scratching sound coming from either somewhere within the belt housing or pedals/cranks...I can't quiet isolate yet. I just hope it's not something that will worsen and cause wear on parts. I'm not too impressed with the quality/feel of the computer included. It works fine so far, but I worry a bit about its longevity. I wonder how accurate the calories burned really is - it shows I burned 975 cal in a 45-min ride averaging 23mph at 100 cadence. That's at least 400 more than what I do at my local YMCA! The ride is otherwise very smooth and enjoyable! I really like the different hand positions available on the handlebars, and love the tray for my phone or a tablet. The pedals are super solid and rotate smoothly, and I really like the cages to keep my feet in place (I'm not a clip guy myself). It has provided some excellent workouts so far! I'm glad I bought it.

My local gym was closed for months, was able to open for a short time, and recently closed down again. So during this COVID time, I need something that I can do at home. I live in MN, and exercise outside in the winter is not an option for me. I have not taken a spin class for 15 years, but a spin bike is more in my budget than a treadmill. Plus, treadmills need a lot more space and when they break down the fixing can be pricey. So, spin bike, here we go!

Like other reviewers, I wanted a Peloton, however, let's be real if you are looking at this bike, spending $2500 on a bike plus monthly subscription of $40 is probably not in your budget either! You are benefiting from my research! As I looked, there is pretty much a bike for everyone's budget. I am keeping my gym membership, so I did not want to spend an exorbitant amount. I was going to get one with a belt and 45-pound flywheel, but then I stumbled upon this one. The availability, magnetic wheel, price, super fast Amazon Prime shipping, the iPad shelf, and the "computer" are what sold me. I have seen a few reviews with damaged boxes, mine was fine, and I think the great packing job would totally protect the bike. It took about 30 minutes to assemble...thank you for your help, Husband! Once put together, it was easy for him to carry it to the next room (probs about 80 pounds). I have the bike in a carpeted room with a plastic chair mat under it. I will not be rolling it around, but I think it would be pretty easy. I am 140 pounds and am 5'6". The bike is sturdy, I feel totally safe when I am up out of the saddle. Speaking of saddles, I replaced the giant seat right away. I got this one:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0845PGYYZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I may upgrade again or add a cushion, but I did not want to spend too much without being able to try it out. I have to (or should I say my backside has to) get used to spinning again! I knew the seat the bike comes with would be much too large for my preference. The size I got is more in line with the size of the seat on my road bike.

I also upgraded the pedals. I want to use my road bike shoes (way more productive), so I got these pedals in the event my husband gets an inkling to go for a ride. I can clip in on one side, and he can use the cages on the other side. A nice compromise.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081BDDGJ8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If you want to use your road bike shoes exclusively, I'd recommend these:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000KC3Y0G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The bike is silent! I mean silent! I'm pretty sure the magnetic resistance attributes to how quiet it is and, there should not really be any maintenance.

The iPad holder and the stat reader are great. I only look at the rpm's (same as Peloton's "cadence") when I ride. The tracker goes between time, speed, distance, calorie, odometer, RPM, and Pulse. It is important to know that this device will not give you the most accurate readings of your performance because it has no way of knowing your body size and conditioning level. So expect them to be relatively generic. I use my own heart rate monitor and I still have to get an iPhone holder that I can attach to the bike, so I can see my heart rate app on my phone easier. I bought the Peloton app for $12/month (I did the 30-day free trial first) and watch it on my iPad. The iPad is quite secure in the holder. If you have a ROKU, you can watch the Peloton classes on your tv! The bike does not come with weight holders, and it is kind of annoying that you cannot buy the ones Sunny puts on the higher price point bikes a la carte. So, I am going to pay about $45 to get them on Etsy.

I think the reason the other Sunny bikes are more money is that you would not have to "DIY" them. They come with weight holders and such.... I am COMPLETELY satisfied with my purchase! I think spinning would suck without the Peleton app (or another app or YouTube videos)...I mean it is pretty boring to just sit and pedal. Ride on, people.

EDIT: A few people asked for some pics of the seat installation (I changed out the seat), and the tablet holder.

If you want to use your road bike shoes exclusively, I'd recommend these:

I've put about 20 hours on this bike with it set to what I feel is a slight incline resistance for cardio. It is quiet, and the flywheel rides smooth. The only knock I have against this bike in terms of function is the drive train doesn't allow free spin of the flywheel when you pause pedaling (of course this keeps you pedaling which is good for cardio) like you would have on a regular mountain bike or multi speed road bike.
Assembly: The drive train comes preassembled. The only thing that isn't just tightening bolts into preset holes is the seat. With that, you only need to make sure it's straight when you tighten it on. Speaking of the seat, if doing half-hour rides or longer, get a padded seat cover like the bikearoo or similar (see photo), wear padded riding bottoms or get a cushioned seat. As with all non-therapy stationary bikes, the seat isn't that comfortable, though it's much better than a mountain bike seat.

Overall: Good bike if you need it for general cardio. You can't beat the price and save money versus other more well known brands. The electronics on scan mode give you the basics you need to keep track of a workout. I can't speak to how this works with riding network programs, but it certainly gets the job done for low impact cardio quietly.

Es bastante comoda y muy maciza, requiere algo de ensamble pero vale la pena. Es muy silenciosa y facil de mover gracias a las ruedas que trae al frente. Es exactamente lo que necesitaba!

This spin bike arrived on Sunday and my husband and I have used it every day since (5 days so far). It was very easy to assemble (although the box is super heavy) and the quality seems excellent so far - smooth and quiet. I am 5'2" (160cm) and my husband is 5'10" and fits us both fine.
